A complete new roof and roofline in Luton
This completed project was carried out on a residential property in Luton, Bedfordshire. The work included a complete new roof installation and a new white uPVC roofline, giving the homeowner a coordinated finish across the roof covering, eaves and rainwater system.
New breathable felt was installed over the rafters, followed by treated timber battens and new concrete interlocking tiles. Code 4 lead flashings were formed at the roof junctions, while the ridge and verge details were finished for a clean, weatherproof result.
The existing roofline was also replaced with white uPVC fascias, soffits, guttering and downpipes. This brought the eaves and rainwater goods up to the same standard as the new roof. How We Carried It Out
The Process
Work began with the existing roof stripped and the roof structure checked, ready to receive the new build-up. A new breathable felt underlay was laid across the rafters, allowing moisture vapour to escape from the roof void while keeping wind-driven rain out.
New treated timber battens were fixed at the correct gauge for the concrete interlocking tile profile. The new tiles were then laid across the roof pitches, with the courses checked for line and consistency as the covering progressed. Code 4 lead flashings were formed at the abutments and junctions to provide durable weather protection.
The ridge tiles were bedded on mortar and the verge edges were finished with a dry verge system. The roofline was then renewed with white uPVC fascias and soffits, followed by matching white uPVC guttering and downpipes. The new rainwater goods were aligned and pitched to carry water away from the property cleanly.
