Ponding water that will not drain away
If rainwater is still sitting on your flat roof 48 hours after it has stopped raining, the falls are too shallow or the outlets are blocked. Standing water attacks membrane seams, accelerates UV degradation, and adds significant dead weight. Every flat roof we install is laid to a minimum 1:40 fall so water clears naturally.
Blistering and bubbling across the surface
Raised blisters mean trapped moisture vapour is expanding in the sun - water has got beneath the membrane through a failed seam or pinhole. Free survey and specification
We survey your flat roof properly - measuring the falls, probing the deck, testing for trapped moisture, and assessing the insulation and structure. You get a written specification with the recommended system (GRP, EPDM, felt, or a combination), a fixed itemised price, and a clear programme. No vague estimates, no pressure.
Strip and substrate preparation
We strip the old covering completely and inspect the deck beneath. Any rotten timber, saturated OSB, or damaged decking is cut out and replaced with treated timber or moisture-resistant OSB3. We do not lay a new membrane over a suspect deck - that is how five-year failures happen.
Falls and drainage
We re-establish correct drainage falls - typically 1:40 to 1:60 - using firrings or tapered insulation if the existing structure is too flat. Outlets are checked, cleared, or upgraded. Water must clear the roof within 48 hours of rainfall, and we guarantee that on every installation.
Insulation and membrane installation
Where specified, warm-deck insulation is installed to meet Building Regulations. The chosen membrane - EPDM, GRP, or felt - is then laid strictly to the manufacturer's specification by our employed team. Seams are checked, upstands are detailed, and edge trims are fitted.
Sign-off and guarantee
Every flat roof is inspected and water-tested before we hand it over.
